The theme for Book Week 2019 is Reading Is My Secret Power. In conjunction with our circulation desk display and our Junior reading room display, I created this interactive display at the back of our Junior reading room.

The theme for Book Week 2019 is Reading Is My Secret Power and there are so many ways you could interpret this theme for display ideas. Traditionally, I decorate our circulation desk window (four, large tinted windows that sit behind out prominent circulation desk) with some interpretation of the CBCA artwork. 
This year the CBCA Book Week 2019 artwork has been created by Bob Graham.
Here is my interpretation.
The theme for Book Week 2019 is Reading Is My Secret Power and I have had a lot of fun coming up with different displays to showcase this theme around the library. For our junior reading room, I went with Bookopolis: Home of those with secret powers. It takes the angle of superheroes, something that is eternally popular with our young readers, especially with the release of the Marvel Avengers: The Endgame movie earlier in the year. The display is bright and was very easy to put together.
Book Week is often celebrated with a themed dress-up day. For some, this is the highlight of the school calendar, for others they dread the day. Here are a few costume ideas that link into the theme for Book Week 2019: Reading Is My Secret Power.

The theme and official artwork offers plenty of inspiration for displays: powers, superpowers, secrets, transformations, hidden identities.
There are plenty of ideas surrounding “Reading is my superpower”, so I am planning to use those ideas and adapt them for a fresh Book Week look.

Book Week 2019 will run from the 17 to the 23 of August 2019. More details are available on the CBCA website.
Now that the theme has been announced, it’s time to start brainstorming for display, decoration and costume ideas.
The official artwork for Book Week 2019 has been designed by Bob Graham. You can access the banner and free email signature, social media tile and letter head on the CBCA website. You can also access a range of merchandise from the CBCA store.
There are plenty of ways to interpret the 2019 theme. Here’s just a few ideas.
