A Fragile Enchantment is a fantastic mix of Regency era fashion, balls and matchmaking and fantasy political intrigue. Spies, secrets, scandals, alliances, and forbidden romances, it is addictive and delightful.

Niamh has the ability to stitch magic into the clothes she makes. Catching the attention of the royal family from Avaland and being commissioned to create the wedding outfits for the upcoming wedding of Prince Kit Carmine might be enough to save her family. But being in Avaland, seeing the way her people are treated, facing the surly prince and discovering the cracks in the facade of the royal family makes Niamh realise there is far more at stake than she first realised. She doesn’t have time for growing feelings towards Kit – he’s engaged!! – and with a gossip columnist who is all too happy to share about their growing attractions, Niamh’s future and the future of the kingdom is on the line.

As well as the romance, which is a delightful enemies-(or at least unfriendly)-to-lovers romance, with a brilliant flourish for love at the end, I really enjoyed the side character relationships. Friendship, quirky characters, diversity and a genuine regard between this cast of characters makes for enjoyable reading.

Looking forward to sharing A Fragile Enchantment with our school library’s romantasy readers. I think it’s going to be a popular title.

The publishers provided an advanced readers copy of this book for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.
