Ramblings: 2023 Year in Review

2023 Year in Review

It’s has become a bit of a tradition of mine to reflect back on the year that has just passed. I find it immensely helpful to not only remember all the things I actually got done in the year, but to also track what I am spending my focus on, track my goals and my progress towards them and set new goals for the year ahead.

Honestly, 2023 feels like it could have been two years with the amount that has been squeezed into it. To say it has been a massive year feels like a massive understatement. Before writing this, I read my reflections from 2022. I had to chuckle at the plans I had set for the start of 2023. I thought I had it all organised and all laid out. Well, let me tell you, the start of 2023 did not go as planned.

Ramblings: 2022 Year in Review

2022 Year in Review

I absolutely love reflecting on the year that has been. I do it with my library with an annual report and I like to keep a bit of a reflection here on my blog. So many posts that I share here are for my own benefit (sorry!!). I know that it helps others, but it’s really handy for me to have a reflection of what I have done (and how I did it), so I can reuse, adapt, reflect and change.

Last year I shared a similar review of the year and it really is amazing reading back over it, looking at what I hoped to achieve in the year ahead and how much has changed in just the past 12 months.

Ramblings: 2021 Year in Review

2021 Year in Review

So much of this website is a record of what I have read or done. I love that I can look back and check how I did something or what books I’ve read and loved. It comes in handy – especially when I’m trying to remember how I did something and the brain is a little fuzzy – and I hope that it helps others.

In the spirit of record keeping, I’m going to review my year here. This probably won’t be an overly helpful post for you, dear reader, but it does help me to reflect on what I achieved or didn’t achieve this year. I’m the kind of person who loves a good statistic. So, here’s my stats for the year, as well as a bit of a reflection overall.

Ramblings: 2019 – Year in Review

Year in Review – 2019

Well, 2019 has come and gone. I know everyone is saying the year has just flown by. And yes, I agree with that, but I can also see that the year has been very busy, with lots achieved and even more packed into each and every day. 2020 seems set to be an even bigger and better year.

So, here is my year in review. I’ll start with my favourite books and then add some library highlights, and then I’ll finish with some things I am looking forward to in 2020. Don’t forget to check out my lists of most anticipated titles due for release in January 2020. The list is HUGE and promises a fantastic year ahead in the world of book publishing.

Favourite Books of 2019

The Queen’s Resistance – Rebecca Ross. Sequel to The Queen’s Rising, I and my high school book clubers loved this amazing novel. Full review here.

Katie McGarry gave me two amazing reads, Only A Breath Apart and Echoes Between Us (which is due for release in January 2020, but I had the privilege of reading it in 2019, so it’s going on this list.) And if you like that edge of the supernatural, try another of my favourites from this year, Now Entering Addamsville by Francesca Zappia.

Jenn Bennett did it again with Serious Moonlight and the response from my YA contemporary library readers was the same “it’s just so good!!!”.
