Synopsis

Carly Smith came by her trust issues honestly. A victim of sex trafficking, she’s been at the mercy of merciless men, ignored by law enforcement officers who should have helped her, and seemingly rejected by her family. She can’t even trust herself to do the right thing. Though she escaped her captors and is working hard on building a new life, the past continues to haunt her when she discovers that the man she couldn’t bring herself to report to police for fear of reliving her captivity is still out there, luring vulnerable girls under the guise of being a modeling agent.

When her own niece is kidnapped, Carly must overcome her fears and come forward with the information she has before it’s too late. When that proves to be not enough, she’ll have to go after the perpetrators herself.

My thoughts

Suspenseful, intriguing, exciting and emotional, Justice Delivered combines mystery, action and romance with a heartbreaking story of traumatic circumstances overcome and the fight to battle fear and evil. Justice Delivered is the fourth book in the Memphis Cold Case series. Each book can be read as a standalone title. Book Review: Justice Betrayed

Synopsis

It’s Elvis Week in Memphis, and homicide Detective Rachel Sloan isn’t sure her day could get any stranger when aging Elvis impersonator Vic Vegas asks to see her. But when he produces a photo of her murdered mother with four Elvis impersonators–one of whom had also been murdered soon after the photo was taken–she’s forced to reevaluate. Is there some connection between the two unsolved cases? And could the recent break-in at Vic’s home be tied to his obsession with finding his friend’s killer?

When yet another person in the photo is murdered, Rachel suddenly has her hands full investigating three cases. Lieutenant Boone Callahan offers his help, but their checkered romantic past threatens to get in the way. Can they solve the cases before the murderer makes Rachel victim number four?

My thoughts

Justice Betrayed is the third book in the Memphis Cold Case series, a collection of stand-alone novels that follow individuals with a gift for finding answers to crimes long left unsolved. Justice Betrayed follows its predecessors as an exciting romantic mystery.

Detective Rachel Sloan joined the police force hoping to one day solve her mother’s cold murder case. When an Elvis impersonator demands to speak with Rachel about another cold case he is sure is tied to her mother’s death, Rachel isn’t sure if he is crazy or has discovered fragments of truth long buried. But when Rachel receives threats to leave the case alone, she and her supervisor, Lieutenant Boone Callahan will have to work hard to piece together the clues of this puzzling case.

Justice Betrayed opens with a prologue set nearly 40 years ago, and offers the first tantalising clue in this story that combines both cold and new cases. Readers first met Detective Rachel Sloan and Lieutenant Boone Callahan in the second book in the Memphis Cold Case series, when they handled the main case involved in that story. However, if you haven’t read Justice Buried, it’s easy to pick up on their shared history and roles within the police department.

Synopsis

In an effort to get her security consulting business off the ground, Kelsey Allen has been spending a lot of time up in the air, rappelling down buildings and climbing through windows to show business owners their vulnerabilities to thieves. When she is hired to pose as a conservator at the Pink Palace Museum in order to test their security weaknesses after some artifacts go missing, she’s ecstatic. But when her investigative focus turns from theft to murder, Kelsey knows she’s out of her league–and possibly in the cross hairs. When blast-from-the-past Detective Brad Hollister is called in to investigate, Kelsey may find that he’s the biggest security threat yet . . . to her heart.

My thoughts

Justice Buried is an exciting and compelling suspense, with just a smidgen of romance to keep things really interesting. The idea for this book sounded wonderful – a woman who sneaks into buildings, cracks alarm codes, and rappels down walls all in the name of keeping things safe? Sign me up! The book’s first line only amped up my interest for this story, and I was not disappointed.

Kelsey Allen is slowly building her security consultancy business. Her recent employment has involved posing as the Phantom Hawk, sneaking into buildings and showing the owners the gaps in their security systems. But when she is spotted one night and shot at, Kelsey knows she had a lucky escape. However, her next assignment – posing undercover at a museum to uncover a spate of artifact thefts – suddenly leads to a murder investigation, and, when it all becomes tied to the cold case of her father’s disappearance, she knows she will need the help of police to solve this mystery. Family friend and old school mate, Detective Brad Hollister is the man for the job, but neither Kelsey nor Brad expect the spark between them, nor just how dangerous this case could get.

Book Review: Justice Delayed

Justice Delayed – Patricia Bradley – Memphis Cold Case #1 – Revell  – Published 31 January 2017

Synopsis

It’s been eighteen years since TV crime reporter Andi Hollister’s sister was murdered. The confessed killer is behind bars, and the execution date is looming. But when a letter surfaces stating that the condemned killer didn’t actually do it, Detective Will Kincaide of the Memphis Cold Case Unit will stop at nothing to help Andi get to the bottom of it. After all, this case is personal: the person who confessed to the crime is Will’s cousin. They have less than a week to find the real killer before the wrong person is executed. But much can be accomplished in that week–including uncovering police corruption, running for your life, and falling in love.

My thoughts

Justice Delayed is the explosive start to a new suspense series by Patricia Bradley and it has all the features of a novel that keeps you guessing. Romance, a new cold case team, mysteries that hit close to home, flawed and relatable characters, and plenty of tension combine to keep the suspense high.

Andi Hollister is a journalist who takes risks to uncover the big stories. When a murder is linked to the death of Andi’s sister, Andi knows she has to help uncover the details, especially since the man convicted of her murder is about to be executed. Along with her brother, police Sergeant Brad Hollister, and family friend Detective Will Kincade, who has just joined a new cold case team, Andi puts her life in danger to find the truth about who really killed her sister and why.

Justice Delayed snagged my attention from the first page. Andi is a flawed but realistic character. She takes risks and usually jumps in head first to dangerous situations, so it’s no wonder her brother and friends worry about her and tend to hover. Andi is also battling an addiction to pain pills, but her major problem is denying she has an addiction.
