Book Week 2024: Resources, Links and Ideas

It’s almost time for Book Week. The CBCA  Book Week is one of the biggest events in the school library calendar. Book Week is a wonderful celebration of reading, Australian literature, school libraries and the people who bring books to children. Australian School Library Day sits in the middle of Book Week and is a great day to celebrate school libraries and how they help support students, reading and the Australian publishing industry.

The theme for Book Week 2024 is Reading is Magic and there is no shortage of ideas for displays, activities, events and ways to celebrate..

Book Week 2022: Resources and Links

Book Week is often one of the biggest events in the school library calendar. Book Week throws into the light the importance of reading, school libraries, children’s literature and Australian literature. It is a chance to celebrate all of that and more.

The theme for Book Week 2022 is Dreaming With Eyes Open… The theme is decided and announced each year by the Children’s Book Council of Australia and they do an amazing job of creating resources that fit the theme and official artwork.

Book Week 2020 – Useful Links

The theme for Book Week 2020 is – Curious Creatures, Wild Minds. Due to COVID-19, the usual date of late August has been changed. Book Week will be celebrated from the 17th to the 23rd of October.

When pulling together a plan for Book Week, it can be a little overwhelming, so I am sharing a few helpful links I’ve come across.

Official Updates

The official Book Week details and updates can be found on the CBCA website. They also share social media images and other free resources. You can also buy official merchandise from the CBCA Store or your state CBCA.

The official artwork for Book Week 2020 has been designed by 2018 CBCA Picture Book of the Year winner Gwyn Perkins. As the author/illustrator of A Walk in the Bush, I think this is the perfect match for theme.
