This display was the idea of one of my fellow librarians, who suggested a buddy read display when she noted how many books we had duplicate copies of.

Display – Welcome Back The Books Missed You
This is by no means an original idea. I’d seen the phrase with related displays on Pinterest and thought it would be a great replacement for my old Australia Day display I traditionally use in the first week back of school.
New Shelf Dividers
It was time for an upgrade. Our library has been using cardboard boxes as shelf dividers for a while now. As our collection grows, the shelves get tighter and the boxes were taking up valuable real estate. They were also looking a little tired, not to mention the empty boxes made the perfect hiding space for students to stash books, rubbish or Easter eggs (I kid you not, the whole thing was in there all crumbled up. What a waste of chocolate!!).
So, we invested in some new acrylic shelf dividers. We purchased them from Syba Signs. While Syba sell the vinyl to stick on the dividers in a range of colours and labels, we wanted to completely control the font and colours, and customise them to our collections. Fortunately, we have a Cricut machine in the library, which can cut vinyl.
Display – Connect to the Library
The theme for our library this first term 2020 is Connect. My focus is on really engaging with students and hopefully getting them to engage with the library in return. We are highlighting both our online connections and face-to-face activities. I am reusing our puzzle theme, as puzzles remain popular with our students and I already had them cut (I’m lazy but I like to call it time management!!).
Activity – Literary Photo Booth
Our students love photo booths. They love taking photos with our library iPad, creating mini scenes and using book-themed props, especially when they are dressed up for Book Week or another special event. Previously I have used just a plain backdrop – either a roll of paper or a plastic tablecloth – but for Book Week 2019, I wanted to make a photo booth out of a fridge box, all with a literary theme.
Library Display Furniture and Equipment
If you have had a look around my blog you know that I love creating displays in our school library. Colourful, interactive, fun – whatever gets the books off the shelves and into the students’ hands. I am always on the lookout for new ways to present and create displays and I recently put the call out to my fellow librarians and asked them what their favourite display furniture and equipment was. Here is a quick list of things I and other librarians have used in libraries to create and present library displays.
Book Week 2019 – Reading is my Secret Power Display 2
The theme for Book Week 2019 is Reading Is My Secret Power. In conjunction with our circulation desk display and our Junior reading room display, I created this interactive display at the back of our Junior reading room.

Book Week 2019 – Reading is my Secret Power Display
The theme for Book Week 2019 is Reading Is My Secret Power and there are so many ways you could interpret this theme for display ideas. Traditionally, I decorate our circulation desk window (four, large tinted windows that sit behind out prominent circulation desk) with some interpretation of the CBCA artwork. 
This year the CBCA Book Week 2019 artwork has been created by Bob Graham.
Here is my interpretation.
Display – Alice In Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland provided an easy and very colourful concept for decorating our junior reading room.
Book Week 2019 – Bookopolis Display
The theme for Book Week 2019 is Reading Is My Secret Power and I have had a lot of fun coming up with different displays to showcase this theme around the library. For our junior reading room, I went with Bookopolis: Home of those with secret powers. It takes the angle of superheroes, something that is eternally popular with our young readers, especially with the release of the Marvel Avengers: The Endgame movie earlier in the year. The display is bright and was very easy to put together.
