Lost is a sweet picture book. Bear finds himself lost in a big city. We are not told how he got there, that’s not the point. As he navigates long queues for coffee and the subway, we learn that everyone around him is too busy to help him find his way or even notice a polar bear sitting next to them. Everyone except for a young girl who takes him home.

But that’s not quite right either. The food is too hot, the bath too small. Really, all bear wants is to find his way home. Thanks to the help of a book, bear is able to communicate what he needs and where he needs to go and they hatch a plan.

This book has wonderful illustrations that really ties the story together. There are few words. I’m guessing the point of the story is to tell us to look up as we go about our day, to see who might be in need around us rather than just being so focused on what needs to be achieved. The book description says the feature is the friendship between bear and the girl, but that section felt too short to be the focus for me.

A sweet picture book with beautiful illustrations.

The publishers provided an advanced readers copy of this book for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.
