I’m thrilled to discover this is a continuing series. I’ve had Africana on my library shelves for a year now and I utterly love its design. This is what I mean when I say we need beautiful non-fiction!! Amazing Asia is the second book in the Epic Continent series by Wide Eyed Editions (one of my favourite imprints for incredible non-fiction).

Amazing Asia is beautifully illustrated and designed. I love illustrated non-fiction and this is a fine example.

The book is divided into the five areas of Asia, East, South, SouthEast, West and North and Central. Each section then explores a timeline of the area, historical highlights, people and culture, wildlife and land spaces, major landmarks, changemakers and superstars who call the area home and a section that captures the future of the area. The facts are brief and cover a wide range of topics. I can see a range of applications to the curriculum, as well as meeting the interest of students wanting to explore this out of interest. It will also appeal to our international students who like to share about their homelands and cultures.

There is a final section called Global Asia, exploring how people and inventions from Asia have shaped the world.

I personally will be adding a copy to both our secondary school and junior school library collections.

The publishers provided an advanced readers copy of this book for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.
