Thanks to the lovely Becca at Becandbones who tagged me in her Get To Know Me post.  So, now I am passing it on and giving you my own answers to this fun Get To Know Me tag.

FavoUrite cOLOUR AND DO YOU HAVE A BOOK IN THAT COLOUR?

My favourite colour depends on the situation. I really like neutrals, blacks, greys, and tans. I also love a bright pop of orange. But I have long loved the refreshing nature of green. I like olive green, dark green, even teals, so if I had to choose a book that matches my love of green I would have to go with Eliza And Her Monsters. I absolutely love that cover. The spine, sitting on the bookshelf, is refreshingly bright. And the story? Amazing.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 BOOK CHARACTERS

Okay, that’s a really hard question.

Elle from Say You’ll Remember Me by Katie McGarry. I adore everything that Katie McGarry writes. I really connected with Elle, related to the struggle she has with perfection and expectations.

Devon from First & Then by Emma Mills. We share a similar level of athletic ability (pretty much none), and I am very good at blissfully ignoring the future and all the things I am supposed to have planned out.

For my third choice I’m going with a character whom I want to be more like. Alison Malone from Clear To Lift by Anne A. Wilson is brave, competent and just all-round awesome. I would love to be more like her.

HYPED BOOKS YAY OR NAY? IF YAY, WHAT WAS THE MOST HYPED BOOK YOU EVER READ? IF NAY, WHAT WAS THE MOST HYPED BOOK YOU DECIDED NOT TO READ?

Nay. Definitely, nay. Which is pretty hypocritical, I know, given that the whole point of being a librarian, reviewer, and blogger is to create hype about books. I do love learning about amazing books from my fellow reviewers and bloggers, but if someone tells me to read something, I am usually pretty reluctant. Maybe it has resulted from all those years of English lessons and courses with set book lists. I like reading what I like reading. So, because of that I haven’t read a lot of the classics that I am ‘supposed’ to have read. Name a classic and I probably haven’t read it. There are also a lot of recently hyped books that are on my to-read list, and I will get to them. Someday.

9780062286925RECOMMEND ONE BOOK PER SEASON. SPRING. SUMMER. FALL. WINTER.

Okay, the first book that jumps to mind is Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch. This is a book for all seasons, an amazing fantasy novel, and it really plays on the atmosphere of the four different seasons.

Summer – Indigo Blue by Jessica Watson. This book reminds me of summer holidays, and time spent in the boat.

Autumn – What first comes to mind about autumn? Autumn leaves. And if you want a book about leaves, then look no further than Leaf by Sandra Dieckmann. This beautiful picture book is gorgeous, from the textured pages, the detailed artwork and the heartwarming story.

Winter – There are plenty of books set during winter, but I love Julie Cross’ Juniper Falls series. Doesn’t that cover make you cold?

Spring – The Secret of a Heart Note by Stacey Lee. Not sure if this is set in spring, but all the plants, flowers and gardening references remind me of spring. And I adore that cover.

NAME ONE BOOK THAT WRECKED YOU EMOTIONALLY

Just one? Is this a joke? I love emotional books. I love that pulled-apart-and-put-back-together feeling you get from a really emotionally powerful book. I love Abigail Johnson’s writing and how her books are so incredibly powerful. The First To Know blew me away.

Colleen Hoover always provides an emotional roller coaster. But the emotional reaction I remember most clearly was in regards to Bitterblue by Kristen Cashore.
I distinctly remember finishing the last page, closing the book, and just sitting there, trying to catch my breath, drying my tears, and thinking. Wow.

WHAT BOOK WOULD YOU RECOMMEND WITH TEA AND COOKIES?

The first book that springs to mind is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. But that’s tea, toast and sardines. So tea and cookies? I’m really not sure. Any book is better with cookies, right?

WHAT IS YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE BOOK?

Ha! Not telling. Honestly, sometimes I love just grabbing any book off the shelf, ignoring my neatly-ordered to-read list, and spending an afternoon reading. No pressure, no plans for a review, just enjoying the moment.

FAVOuRITE DESSERT AND A BOOK THAT REMINDS YOU OF THAT.

My favourite dessert is lemon meringue pie. This book doesn’t necessarily remind me of that dessert in particular, but if you want a book that is going to make you very hungry you have to read The Saturday Night Supper Club by Carla Laureano. Prepare yourself for the munchies.

ARE YOU A PROCRASTINATOR? WHAT BOOK HAVE YOU BEEN PROCRASTINATING READING?

Nope, definitely not a procrastinator. Unless you count reading as procrastinating. Then I am a serial procrastinator.

Thanks, Becanbones, that was fun. Now it is my turn to tag three of my new followers. I hope they enjoy these questions as much as I did.
